Brain Child Still Open – COVID-19

On March 12, 2020, in an effort to slow down the coronavirus outbreak in the area, Governor Inslee issued an emergency proclamation closing all public and private schools until April 24th. This results in a temporary halt in the education of many students in the area. Because our classes are so small, we do not have to close. After talking with the different families that attend our learning centers, we have made the decision to stay open for classes and try to offer different educational opportunities for families in the area during this extended break from school.

Regular Weekly Classes – Many of the families currently enrolled have expressed an interest in continuing to take weekly classes as scheduled. We understand a lot of families are worried about the spread of the coronavirus. As a result, we have increased the frequency of cleaning and sanitizing the tables in the classrooms, as well as other high contact surfaces. We have soap located in all of our bathrooms, hand sanitizers and/or wipes in the office, and different disinfectants. There is plenty of space in the classrooms, and the instructors have been advised to have students practice “social distancing.” In addition, instructors and students who are exhibiting symptoms of illness will be asked to stay home. With these additional measures, we believe that we can keep the risk of virus spread at a minimum. Parents can help out by providing their children with personal hand sanitizers, talking to them about the importance of “social distancing” at this time, and picking up children on time.

For families who prefer to stay at home during this time, we have other options:

Picking Up Assignments – Families are welcome to pick up their children’s assignments from their registered class(es). They can pick up assignments weekly or pick up several assignments at one time. This is a great alternative to choose. It will allow students to continue learning at home during this extended break from school. If you’re interested in picking up class assignments, please call our office ahead of time so we can prepare the requested materials before you arrive.

Remote Learning – We’re in the trial stages of offering remote teaching to registered students. If your family is interested in trying remote instruction for a registered class, please send an e-mail to admin@brainchildlearningcenter.com for more details. Please put “Remote Learning” in the e-mail subject and include your child’s name in the e-mail.

Lastly, for any families interested in more learning, we’re exploring the possibility of offering a Spring Camp for students. Spring Camp would be offered 9:00am – 3:30pm on Monday to Friday. With sufficient interest, the earliest possible start date would be Monday, March 23rd. If offered, spaces would be limited. For more information, please send an e-mail to admin@brainchildlearningcenter.com. Please put “Spring Camp” in the e-mail subject and the desired number of weeks of enrollment within the e-mail.

Thank you for your support at this time.
